In this video, we descend beneath Barcelona to see BESI, the legendary tunnel boring machine that lay sleeping and rusting underground for 14 years after an fatal accident, before she was dismantled to make way for the continuation of the metro tunnel she had once begun. Shot in 2022, I feel fortunate to have witnessed and documented the underground world the machine had carved before her removal, which is why I have assembled my final photographic encounters of hers in the limited-edition photo book Besi, Tres Xemeneies, Barcelona.
