Quiet occupations

Deviating from the well-trodden paths of civilisation, encountering the most marginalised has become an almost universal experience. In my hometown, I often found myself navigating urban peripheries. Here too, makeshift homes and remnants of lives seeking refuge among the foliage are part of the landscape.
I never intended this to become a systematic documentary project, though I wanted to share a selection of photographs that emerged. Especially when their dwellers are present, these encounters always leave lasting impressions—stirring a strong sense of empathy and a bitter awareness of one’s own vulnerability.
